Minority ownership in the communications space has been declining in minority communities; however, the most geographically diverse broadcasters in the US are being purchased by minority owners.

Standard General is acquiring Tegna, a broadcast station group and the largest group owner of NBC-affiliated stations, and ABC affiliates' fourth-largest group owner. If the acquisition is approved, Tegna would be the first Asian American-owned and operated major broadcast station group.
