LIVE: The Battle Over Black History | NABJ 202
The conservative campaign to regulate the teaching of Black history has again exploded in recent days after some politicians defended new curriculum standards in Florida that call for instruction that enslaved people learned skills that could be used for their “personal benefit.” It is a reminder of the ongoing struggle of Black Americans to tell their stories of their experiences in this country in the face of resistance. Our panelists will discuss the social, cultural and, most important, political forces affecting the centuries-long tug of war over how race defined America’s past, present and future.
